(Annual event – April)
The Pitch-In Canada program is the largest and only multi-province litter clean-up campaign in Canada. The annual event, which takes place in April, is a partnership between governments, the media, industry and the public.
The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority co-ordinates the Pitch-In program for the Nipissing, East Parry Sound and West Parry Sound districts. The program is focused primarily on schools and youth groups throughout the community, with the hope that children will learn the negative impacts of littering. In recent years, several community organizations have also become actively involved in the Pitch-In program. The community Pitch-In teams select the site within their community which they feel is most in need of the clean up campaign.
The garbage bags are provided free of charge by Pitch-In Canada with funding from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. The garbage bags are sent to NBMCA for distribution the NBMCA also provides a Certificate of Appreciation to all participating schools and groups.
Be a part of the restoration and stewardship of Chippewa Creek!
Through the Adopt-the-Creek Program, individuals, neighbourhood groups, schools, organizations and businesses can play an active and ongoing role in cleaning, greening and maintaining Chippewa Creek along the EcoPath.
For now, we ask you to keep your section of the Creek and the EcoPath clean of garbage and debris. Two community Creek clean ups are planned annually. One in September as part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup and and in April during Pitch-In Canada week. You and your group can plan clean-ups at another time if more convenient for the group. All supplies will be provided.
